Unconventional Warfare (UW) SME [Romania]


 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Develops, plans, assesses, and executes UW training courses and exercises.
  • Provide and apply UW subject matter expertise on team, company, and battalion operations and intelligence for UW operations.

  • Provide advice and assist in the development of UW doctrine for Partner Nation SOF (PN SOF)
  • Support UW training at PN SOF institutions. This includes instructional design and development; train, mentor and advise PN SOF staff and instructors; re-search, develop and produce case studies, white papers, and course materials; develop student assessment checklists; design, develop and conduct UW exercises that incorporate individual student evaluations; plan, conduct and document After Action Reviews (AARs) of all instruction and exercises.
  • Advice and support PN SOF unit-based UW activities. This includes training plan development and execution at the team, company, and battalion levels; exercise development and execution up to battalion level; provision of UW expertise to commanders and staffs to facilitate the planning and conduct of UW.
  • Provide instruction, as needed in hands-on field training, practical application instruction, and operational performance exercise training.
  • Monitor the progress of UW training programs and solutions, trainers, and trainees.
  • Assist the Program Manager in managing all phases and aspects of training, training development, qualifications, and assessment; maintain as necessary, metrics or organizational databases to track successful completion of training requirements.
  • Provide advice at the SOF Command Chief of Staff level to Operational and Training Battalions.
  • Assist in development of operational planning efforts using Army Training Process to support training and operational requirements.
  • Provide support for the Courses of Instruction, including providing briefs, course materials and mentoring mission planning.
  • Mentor staff on expectation management and Theater interaction as it pertains to readiness, management of resources and communications.
  • Prepare written reports, PowerPoint presentations for the program management, as needed to conduct training.
  • Prepare technical and status reports to company and program managers, as re-quired.
  • Ensure students gain the ability to effectively employ the TTPs necessary, in various scenarios.
  • Instructors and Training Management team may be asked to evaluate students’ performance and certify their competence in the skills they have been trained.
Position Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of the US Army Special Forces Qualification Course.
  • Must have extensive Special Forces experience; preferred candidate will have more than 10 years of experience, having worked at the Special Forces Battalion level or above.
  • Must possess previous instructor experience, with priority given to Special War-fare Center & School (SWCS) or other accredited instructor experience.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience planning and conducting Special Activities
  • Preferred candidates will be a graduate of the Special Forces Sniper Course (SFSC/SOTIC), or the Special Forces Advanced Reconnaissance, Target Acquisition, and Engagement Course (SFARTAEC) / Operator Training Course (OTC)
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have a valid U.S. state driver’s license.
  • Required to obtain an international driver's permit prior to deployment.
  • Must have a current U.S. Passport with 6 months remaining eligibility upon deployment.
  • Possess and maintain physical fitness & conditioning necessary to deliver this training.
  • Knowledgeable in the Army’s Systems Approach to Training and Managing Pro-grams of Instruction.
  • Demonstrated expertise in exercise planning and/or curriculum development is required, with preference given to those candidates with 5 years or more experience.
  • Must possess strong understanding of training logistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and communicate effectively.
  • Possess high personal standards of technical knowledge & professional competence in delivering course training material.
  • Demonstrate high levels of perseverance and personal responsibility; working to-ward an end objective, with commitment and resolve.
  • Must be self-motivated and an autonomous self-starter, anticipating the tasks and acting accordingly.
  • Always display professionalism, behaving as a standard-bearer for the company and the team.
  • Must possess mature judgment skills, with studied opinions and ability to make sensible decisions based on personal experiences.
  • Adaptability and ability to think and solve problems in unconventional ways; recognize, understand, and navigate multiple social and/or foreign networks; proactively shape the environment or circumstances in anticipation of desired out-comes.
  • Must be a strong team leader who respects others and acknowledges diversity in the workplace.
  • Eastern European language skills, highly desired but not required.
  • Applicant selected will be subject to a Security Clearance investigation and must possess and maintain a Secret level Security Clearance.
  • Applicant selected must pass criminal background check at the State and Federal level.
  • Applicant must be willing to relocate to Romania.
  • The nature of the training requires high standards of mental and physical strength and agility.
  • Must have successfully completed an approved DoD Instructor Training Course (ITC), or other equivalent.
  • All instructors will participate in training events in rough terrain that will require the ability to lift/carry 45 pounds, walk up mountainous terrain, walk up to several miles per day with a rucksack, and provide up to 8 consecutive hours of instruction.
  • Each associate must be willing and able to perform as instructor (if needed) and/or in a variety of environmental conditions including indoor; outdoor; cold; heat; rain; snow; and, if necessary, extreme inclement weather.
